ENLIGHT: European Light Expression Network
SPECTRA Festival and Curated Place have established ENLIGHT the European Light Expression Network by partnering with MIRIAD at the Manchester School of Art (UK), I/O Lab in Stavanger (Norway), and Fondazione Mondo Digitale in Rome (Italy).
This new 32 month project offers artists the opportunity to participate in a new programme and network producing and promoting light and sound artworks – exploring the meeting point of art, technology and design. An open call process allows artists from anywhere in the EU to submit ideas and approaches to work with our hosts. Successful artists are then invited to undertake a series short residencies with their host organisations, supported by in-house teams of technologists and technicians, to create a new public realm work for exhibition at SPECTRA, The rome Media Art Festival and Stavanger’s Article Biennial.
The first round of residencies are premiering both completed works and works in progress at this year’s festival and we are excited to welcome artists Stanza (UK), Tobias Daemgen (Ger) and Yiannis Kranidiotis (Gr) to Aberdeen. The whole project is an extension of SPECTRA’s core aim to connect Aberdeen to international creative networks, bring high quality original artworks to the city and the expertise of both makers and host organisations to expand the possibilities, networks and horizons for artists and art organisations in the North East.
The second round of open calls inviting 3 artists to work in Stavanger, Rome and Manchester are now open at www.curatedplace.com/enlight2017
