Join writer Adelle Stripe for a Creative Writing workshop designed to generate new material and ideas. Within this seminar writers will consider their own connection to the city, and how urban and imaginary settings can be explored on the page. This workshop is for writers who already have some experience within fiction, poetry or creative-nonfiction and would like to develop their skills further in writing about memory, history and place.
Rebecca Solnit, Norman Lewis and W.G. Sebald will provide a starting point for the workshop which is focused on exploring the city on foot, and how hidden narratives are buried in the streets beneath us.
Participants will have the opportunity to share their work and gain insights into how they might re-tell some of their own personal histories through the act of wandering the city at night. As part of this workshop there will be a guided walk to hidden/secret areas of the city.
Please bring a pair of comfortable shoes, a notebook and pen, and photocopies of one side of A4 writing to be shared on the day.
