I could walk out, but I won’t – Elin Melberg

Coming from Stavanger in Norway, Aberdeen’s twin city, SPECTRA are excited to welcome Elin Melberg to the festival with her sculptural work especially adapted to the Arches in Union Terrace Gardens.

A sculptor who often creates large, colourful work in public spaces, Elin uses a range of materials and processes to play with space and colour. Elin has created work for public spaces across Norway, as well as exhibiting in New York.

“I have always enjoyed working with contrasts, and have therefore been emphasising on both big, maximalist installations and more downplayed works. I have enjoyed this way of working and have a growing need for this variation. I find great joy in the different materials I work with and am very curious by nature. This is reflected in the way I simultaneously work with several techniques and mediums, but with recurring themes as a common denominator.”

The partnership with Elin has been established through the Town Twinning fund of Aberdeen City Council.
