Making a Business from Participatory Art: Evening of Discussion & Networking…

Join Artist Educators Jenny Dockett & Hannah Ayre for an evening of professional development and networking on November 4th at The Anatomy Rooms.

Jenny’s workshop Illuminating Geometry has taken her all over the UK and abroad she is delighted to bring her project to Spectra 2017. She will be working with schools across the city to create a stunning light installation to be exhibited in February. Hannah Ayre is Head of Public Engagement for Curated Place, the arts production company behind Spectra. Jenny and Hannah each have 20 years experience of working in informal learning settings.

The evening will take the form of presentations, activities and discussion. We will cover a range of topics including planning and developing projects for schools, families and adults, documenting your work and the business of being an artist. This part of the session will tell you all about the nitty gritty of working for yourself, the importance of risk assessments, insurance and most of all getting paid!

Finishing up with beers, nibbles and an opportunity to chat. It is open to early-mid career artists or art students working in community and participatory settings and those looking to explore this way of working.  Book tickets online here.

Spectra Festival is an Aberdeen City Council project in collaboration with Curated Place supported by Creative Scotland.
